“A University’s essential character is that of being a center of free inquiry & critiCism— a thing not to be sacrificed for anything else.”

— Richard Hofstadter

The University of Portland, an independently governed Catholic university, is Oregon’s only comprehensive university with schools of business, education, engineering, nursing, a College of Arts and Sciences, and a graduate school.

While working in The Office of Marketing & Communications, I assisted with print design for advertising, direct mail, newsletters including the weekly faculty and staff newsletter, upbeatPortland Magazine; and content management.
The main focus of The Office of Marketing & Communications, is to manage projects related to donor relations, student recruitment, alumni engagement, and provide design services to the many diverse departments at UP.

The University of Portland has a strong established brand identity, and I did not reinvent the wheel. The work required a conservative and clean aesthetic with academic focused photography that speaks for itself.
